When Tony needed a full room of furniture cleared in Roehampton, he called us for a large wardrobe and furniture removal. The house had four wardrobes, a double bed and mattress, a dressing table, a sideboard, two chests of drawers, a desk, an office chair, a bedside chest, three small mirrors and an ironing board, a proper family clear-out. Our South London furniture collection team took it on in a single visit.
The Challenge
This was a big load across several pieces of large furniture. Most items were on the ground floor, but one of the wardrobes and the dressing table were upstairs, so those needed carrying down before anything could be loaded. One wardrobe was a large antique mahogany piece with brass handles, heavy and awkward to angle through doorways, while the reddish veneer wardrobes and the divan bed came apart more easily. With parking around 20ft from the door, we worked in stages, carrying pieces out steadily rather than trying to rush a job this size.

The Process
- Walked the house with Tony and confirmed every item going, including the upstairs wardrobe and dressing table
- Carried the upstairs pieces down first to clear the route
- Dismantled the wardrobes and the divan bed where needed for an easier carry
- Removed the sideboard, chests of drawers, desk and office chair
- Cleared the mirrors and ironing board
- Loaded in stages and took the full load to our licensed facility for sorting, reuse and recycling
After the Clearance
The Result
We had the whole job cleared in around three hours, with every wardrobe, the bed and all the smaller furniture gone in one visit. Reusable pieces were set aside, including the antique wardrobe, and the rest was sorted for recycling at our licensed site.
