Teach your children how the paper is made and how recycling can help save trees and forests. Explain them that instead of throwing away plastic bags, we can recycle and turn plastic into something new. Here are some very easy ways to explain to your kids the need of recycling.
1. Read about recycling
A great way to enrich your child’s basic knowledge of recycling is through the books. Choose some recycling books for kids and after reading them to your child, discuss with them and make a plan how to help the environment and how recycling can become a part of your home life.
2. Make containers for separate waste collection
First, give your child a trash bin only for their needs. Then make new containers for paper, glass and plastic. Let the children decorate the containers themselves with images that show what should be thrown inside.
3. Turn recycling into a game
Recycling can be a very fun part of everyday duties in your home. For example, you can pick up some old plastic bottles and make them a great fun in which kids have to hit and drop them. This is a good way to show your kids that you do not always have to buy new toys when you can have fun at home with the stuff lying around. Additionally, you will help your children develop their imagination and come up with new creative ideas for fun while recycling.
4. Visit a recycling center
Last but not least, you can organize a family trip to a recycling center. If your children meet the team in the recycling center, they will learn where all the recycled materials go and can get answers to all their questions about recycling.
